Drug ADDICTION RECOVERY MENTORING
I help clients greatly increase their chances of success over drug addiction (including the drug alcohol) as well as having a much better life than the average recovering addict. The great power of my program is that it capitalizes on your own potential and strengths. It’s my contention that a huge component of addiction is living with one’s wasted potential and regretting every lost opportunity.
I have immense experience in recovery; I have been clean and sober (basically the same thing) since 2000.
Since I got clean I defined recovery as “abstinence from drugs while self-improving”. A few years back I changed it to simply “life”. The first description still applies but is so engrained that I don’t even think about it – it’s necessary. It’s not a mandate but a way of living that is clearly the choice that totally outshines any other, quite frankly it’s a no-brainer. So if you ask me how my recovery is, you’re asking how my life is – and it’s great. It’s gotten better and better since November 18, 2000. Unlike my professional coaching (a partnership) what I offer here is mentoring, it is more of a “do as I did to get what I got” situation. This is because of the damaged nature of the addict. The fantastic news; it can be repaired.
Most people who try to get clean/sober are never successful, in or out of programs. I’ve watched countless people not ‘get it’. I’ve also seen so many others who ‘got it’ but live lives of such mediocrity and desperation that returning to using is a better option. That’s why many do just that. They never straightened out their thinking. Addiction is very difficult to beat and most if not all programs have a rather low success rate. I offer two programs; both are adjuncts to other established outside programs. My addiction recovery programs are mostly my own experience, there are no others like them per se or as an addition, which both are.
By working my programs as add-ons to two that are very common and available will greatly increase a recovering addict’s chance of success. It will also markedly improve the quality of life as compared to the average recovering addict. Surprise, this last part may be more important than the former.
The first one is for those in Alcoholics Anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous (AA/NA, aka 12 Step); spiritual-psychological programs that are also fellowships. They are well known but many people have a poor view of them. The other program is the non AA/NA one in which I endorse SMART (Self Management for Addiction Recovery Training). This method is rooted in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and also has an association though is not really meeting-based. The SMART method is all about learning how to think better and has nothing to do with spirituality that the 12 Steps espouse.
Some of my instructions I did not personally do for my addiction recovery but have concluded will be extremely helpful such as hypnosis.
Rehabs and detoxes are very expensive. So is spending an inordinate amount of time at meetings, and not working on goals. Not making a satisfying income also is a loss. You should only have to get clean/sober once; I finally learned this after about 600 tries. The 599 were not really necessary; however all learning was my gain. The greatest cost is to live your life being less than who you really are and what you could be.
Get it right. Get it really right, but only if you’re serious. [email protected]
Here’s my tip for anyone wanting to get clean/sober or anyone who already is and wondering what’s missing:
Raise your standards.
A primary difference between me and the other recovering addicts I recovered with is that my hopes seemed to far exceed theirs. In this passage you just read I spoke a lot about me. It’s not because I’m so great it’s because I am living proof of recovery that reaches for the stars. I always wanted a recovery that used my potential and set a fantastic future – so that’s what I got. This is a course that anyone can make if they do the right things - or decide the right things. A stellar recovery is not granted.
Just like AA/NA uses a sponsor /sponsee relationship to mentor a recovering addict -I do the same for you. The differences are that I use many different schools of thought and methods to get you to change. Also our relationship is professional - after all I am a trained one. My loyalty is not to some group or any organization - but to you as my client.
My rate for Recovery Mentoring is $150 per hour. Usually we’ll have weekly half hour or so phone sessions. Package deals are offered for a contract of 4 hours, so that Addiction Recovery Mentoring can be acquired for $100 per hour, over a 30% discount. Most coaches charge much more than this, but this is enough for you to get the valuable results you want.
I will listen to you without judgment and support you in your recovery.
